Lammas

4th August 1990 Lammas

In attendance: Anise, Crystal, Hobby, Honeysuckle, Willow and Myself, Cedar. Robin could not attend.

We met at the Covenstead at 7pm and proceeded by cars to a large wood near Dxxxxxx. The girls all changed into their robes, unfortunately mine were not yet ready so I wore normal attire.

It was a beautiful Summers evening as we walked through the woods to our working site, a cornfield deep and hidden in a hollow dip. As we arrived we were greeted with the site of a young deer which leapt away as we approached.

An alter was erected by us by gathering up the cut corn into a small pile, a corn dolly , salvers with bread, salt, and a silver chalice with red wine. Honeysuckle had made a John Barleycorn from bread. Anise performed the ritual, finishing by offering a token sacrifice of John Barleycorn by cutting off his head with a Sickle. Ritual wine and bread were taken by the Coven.

The ritual ended as a beautiful full moon was rising over the hidden valley. The usual festivities of singing, dancing and feasting followed.
