How to spot a Spiritual wolf in sheep’s clothing – If like me you are on a Spiritual pathway of any sort you will have come across all sorts of Gurus, Mystics, Psychics, Mediums, Teachers that say they are “Spiritual” and give the appearance of being deeply Spiritual but are they really what they seem?

A Wolf in Sheeps Clothing is good at hiding the real personality underneath the mask they portray to the world. They are often compulsive liars that lie so much they begin to believe their falsehoods as truth, they prey on the emotionally vulnerable and weak, often have narcissistic personality traits and are masters at playing the victim if they are ever questioned or criticised.

There is an influx of Spiritual Masters, Prophets, Psychics, Spiritual Teachers at the moment, most of them offering to provide answers to the deepest questions of life for a fee, or workshops to help you ascend to untold of spiritual heights, perhaps developing psychic abilities along the way like mediumship, or clairvoyance.

How to Spot a Spiritual Wolf In Sheeps Clothing

They Give Themselves Fancy Titles – How many times have you seen the word “Master” “Enlightened Teacher”, “Worlds Best/Most Famous”, “Self Realised” or even “Saint” My advice would be to run a mile and save your money as these ego-centred individuals offer nothing but lies and false hope? They refer to themselves as enlightened” These are the ultimate delusion of the narcissistic personality suffering from the “Christ Complex” True Spiritual Adepts operate secretly in the world, they do not announce their presence or their ability they just go about their Spiritual work without any boast or fanfare. They are humble, often nondescript.

They React Badly To Criticism

These pretenders hate criticism of any sort should they show a chink in their armour and be found out. Any Spiritual Teacher worth his or her salt welcomes criticism and questions from their pupils, the Wolf in sheep’s clothing does the opposite often portraying themselves as a victim to gain sympathy from their adoring followers. “You attacked me” they cry “You are so nasty” dare you ever question their methods of teaching. They will get defensive and offended, often directing their anger back at the questioner by using reverse psychology. How dare you question me they will proclaim in mock indignation – what they really mean is “I hope you don’t expose me or my inadequacies” I can think of at least two well known Physical Mediums who fit this description exactly. The true spiritual teacher welcomes questions, the more probing they better because the teacher themselves are enlightened enough to know the pupil will become the teacher, that has always been the way of the spirit, the last is first and the first is last.

They Are Blinkered In Their Thinking

They often pretend to have a great wealth of experience or knowledge, but under probing are often blinkered and narrow-minded dismissing alternatives as they believe only their way is the right way. The true teacher sees a bigger picture, a wider world view of spirituality, religion and mysticism, they do not dismiss other viewpoints but recognise all paths are but one to the true source of life.

They Behave Hypocritically

Warning! Beware of the Hypocrite, do they truly practice what they preach? Do they pray and meditate daily, say they are working for G-d or the Great Spirit but in their own time are alcoholics, drug takers, sexual perverts or worse! You would be surprised! Just look at the accusations against the Catholic church for abuse against young boys. And I am not signalling the Catholic church out here this applies to many spiritual paths. There was once a well known Harly Street Psychologist/Councillor that was regularly on the TV, he was known as the “Counsellor to the Stars” That was until he tried unwanted sexual advances on his female clients.

John of God perhaps the most famous spiritual healer in the world and endorsed by none other than Ophra Winfrey turned out to be a child trafficker, paedophile and crook. in 2018, after over 600 accusations of sexual abuse, he turned himself into police. In December 2019 he was sentenced to 19 years and four months for the rapes of four different women. On January 20, 2020, Faria (his true name) was sentenced to an additional 40 years in prison for rape against 5 women. This is the third conviction of the accused. The sentences add up to 63 years and 4 months. Are they leading by example? or is it all an act?

The term “Spiritual” what does it even mean? Many years ago I met my “Guru” a teacher I trusted totally who taught me much about compassion, suffering, and being of service. One evening we went out for a walk on the North Downs in East Sussex, on the way home, way after 11.30 at night we were driving through a small village when I noticed a man lying on the pavement. I quickly turned around and stopped the car to see if he was alright. My “Guru” remained in the car, emotionless, I shook the man there was no movement so I called an ambulance, my Guru remained in the car. The ambulance arrived and managed to revive the man, but under protest. “Oh it’s just another junkie,” the paramedic said to my horror. I said to him sharply “that could be someone’s son or daughter, what if it were your son and daughter?” He looked sheepish and tried to explain it away as they were often called out on these “shouts” that were a waste of resources as it was self-inflicted. My guru remained in the car…I learnt that night the value of compassion, being of service to Humanity, ALL Humanity, no matter colour, race or religion.

Love, Compassion, Kindness are the real traits of the Spiritual Teacher.
